Thrive Center SEL Spotlight: K–5 Learners Growing Strong!
Last week, The Thrive Center had the wonderful opportunity to lead Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programming for our K–5 students. As part of our commitment to supporting the whole child at Victory ChristianCenter School, Thrive partners closely with elementary teachers to build classrooms that are safe, mindful, emotionally aware, and rooted in biblical truth.
During our visit, students engaged in two powerful SEL stories:
Zach Gets Frustrated – helping students recognize frustration and use healthy strategies to calm down and refocus.
Lulu and the Hunger Monster – teaching students how emotions and physical needs connect, and how to ask for help when they feel overwhelmed.
Through movement activities, discussion circles, and guided reading, students practiced the Thrive tools of Pause, Identify, Regulate, and Recenter. These skills support emotional regulation, self-control, and positive learning habits.
Our goal at the Thrive Center is simple:
To ensure every VCCS student feels safe, supported, loved, and equipped with life-long emotional wellness tools.
We are grateful for our K–5 teachers and staff for their partnership and to our young learners for showing curiosity, courage, and heart. Together, we are cultivating a school culture where emotional wellness and academic excellence grow hand-in-hand.
At VCCS… we Thrive together, we learn together, and we WIN together!
