VCCS 9th - 12th Graders Visit to Duke University

On Thursday, November 13, Victory Christian Center School had the 2025 distinguished opportunity to visit Duke University, marking the conclusion of our Fall College Tour Series through the VCCS Thrive Center. This visit provided our secondary students with an immersive experience at one of the nation’s most respected research institutions, allowing them to witness firsthand the academic culture, intellectual rigor, and vibrant campus life that define Duke.

Throughout the day, our students engaged with the environment in meaningful ways—walking the historic quad, observing the daily rhythms of college students, and exploring the broad spectrum of academic programs and career pathways Duke offers. These structured exposures are essential components of the Thrive Center’s mission to strengthen college and career readiness for our students.

A particularly memorable moment occurred when one of our students interacted with members of a cultural student organization who were hosting a trivia table. After successfully answering questions related to Asian countries, he received a complimentary boba tea and engaged in thoughtful conversation with Duke students. Encounters like this reinforce the importance of belonging, confidence, and cross-cultural enrichment—skills and experiences our students will carry into their postsecondary journeys.

Our students also enjoyed meeting campus ambassadors, observing college study spaces—including Duke’s “Great Ideas Bench”—and interacting with local mascots hosting an event on the plaza. For many, these moments offered a tangible glimpse into what daily life on a university campus can look like.

This visit not only expanded their awareness of academic possibilities but also reinforced our broader commitment at VCCS: to ensure our students are thoroughly prepared, strategically guided, and fully inspired as they plan for their futures.

Victory’s vision of developing Kingdom-impact leaders is upheld through initiatives like these, and the Thrive Center remains dedicated to elevating every opportunity that positions our students for excellence.

At Victory, our students don’t just learn…they Thrive!
