Dear VCCS Alumni Basketball Player or Current/Former Faculty Member,

We would like to invite you to take part in the very first VCCS Alumni “Old School, New School Basketball Games!! As an Alumni Basketball Player, you can choose to participate in the games or simply come and visit to reacquaint yourself with old teammates and friends!  The following is a listing of the information detailing the basketball games that day.

Date: Saturday, March 17, 2012
Time: 12:00 Noon (Registration is between 11:00am and 11:30am).
Fees: The pre-registration fee for participating in the Tournament will be $25.00 ($26.02 for online payments)  for those participating in the VCCS Alumni “Old School New School” Basketball Games (This fee includes your Alumni Tourney T-shirt, official registration packet) and this fee will also help to cover the cost for awards. There will be two major awards given: the Kizzy (Anderson) Kemokai Award and the Eric J. Waller Award.

"Kizzy (Anderson) Kemokai Award": VCCS Alumna Kizzy (Anderson) Kemokai or “Cookie” as she was later nicknamed by those closest to her, was born on February 17, 1977 to Jerry Jackson of Atlanta, GA and Kim Anderson of Charlotte, NC. She departed her earthly home on May 13, 2007.Both she and her brother Jedediah Gist-Anderson were raised by grandmother, Jennie Garnett.  Kizzy attended Victory Christian Center School and graduated in the VCCS Class of 1996. While attending VCCS, she was very active in sports, playing basketball, volleyball and she was a cheerleader. The “Kizzy (Anderson) Kemokai Award”, will be given to the winner of the Lady's division of the OSNS Alumni Basketball Game.

Eric J. Waller Award: VCCS Instructor Eric J. Waller, became a teacher at VCC High School in 1994. There he was a favorite among the students where he taught chemistry, coached basketball and baseball. He was also a very active member of VCC church. He had a heart for ministry and participated as a Prayer Partner, bus driver and member of Super Saturday and over saw the College Outreach Program. Eric J. Waller Award”, will be given to the winner of the Men’s division of the OSNS Alumni Basketball Game.

BRACKETS: As it stands now, The “Old School” Team will consist of players who were graduates between 1993-2003 and the “New School” Team will consist of players who were graduates between the years 2004-2011.

Note - Any registration fees submitted after March 3, 2012 or on the day of the event will be $30.00. (Note: We need the pre-registrations sent in on time in order to have the time to properly set-up the teams for the Tournament Game bracketing!)

Come ready to get your funny bones tickled at the VCCS Faculty Basketball Games and don’t miss out on the Opening Act before the Old School Teams serve it up to the New School Girls and Boys Basketball Teams.

The tentative outline of events is listed below: 

• Pledge of Allegiance / Song / Prayer (start at 12:00 Noon)
• Opening Act
• Girls Game
• Faculty Game
• Boys Game
• Dunking Contest
• 3-Point Contest

We look forward to re-uniting with one another on the court. Again, please turn in your registration as soon as possible to help in finalizing the Tourney’s teams and bracketing!
